Did Gap and Yahoo ever hear of effective advertising strategy?

I don’t understand why Gap and Yahoo would place a video ad that automatically plays with audio and constantly repeats based on your site navigation. Their ad doesn’t even really sell a product – it’s just filled with rude chatter. Why would they hurt their corporate reputations by doing something like this? Haven’t they ever heard of advertising testing strategy? Don’t they know they both are significantly alienating their customer base by doing something like this? Are they even reading customer feedback? This is probably the worst advertising video I’ve ever seen – they should be embarassed.

I was wondering what the idiots that thought that up were thinking myself. Maybe how much they would like to be on unemployment?

I suggest that each of you email GAP’s advertising contacts to complain (such as I just did).

Also, another post on the issue said that the ad does not come up if you click on the Canada link at the bottom of this page.
    (so far, so good)

I have wondered about what is the catch?
