I know a band who are in my local area who are becoming quite popular, but I’d like to help them along the way to getting signed by promoting them and their music. Does anyone in the Yahoo! Answers community have any experience in this field, or have any good advice?
What are some good ways to advertise a local band?

they need exposure first so that means playing any and everything that comes to town from the carnival to the fair from the friday night football halftime to wedding receptions, walk-a-thons, fund raisers, city bar b ques, street fairs, farmers markets, movie premieres and parades. Then you move to record stores, grand openings, campus gigs including middle schools, high schools and then colleges. then a warm up band before a small venue concert and then with each performance (worthy of promoting) you move up and onto bigger venues worthy of your talent. then with an album deal all the radio stations, record signings and a concert tour.
