I own three hair salons and bought a system from a company in Bolton called Nextgen Bluetooth.
I rang a few different ones and they seemed the most open and honest. Some were telling me that there tiny box went about 3 miles, other were claiming all sorts of awards that didn’t even seem to exist.
I send out money off vouchers to passers by and in the town centres with it and its been great.
- Bluetooth Advertising Solutions cannot serve all models/brands of mobile handsets as some brands do not support a protocol called [Object Push Protocol] Mobiles as Blackberry, Google Mobile, iPhone and Some HTC brands are not supported but the good news is that these mobiles are NOT COMMON in UK they are very common in North America.
- Try -when you buy a solution for yourself- to get solutions that supports (uploading campaigns through USB +uploading campaigns remotely through Internet + ether net cable ) this will let you manage your devices easily. (company that support the 3 types of uploading the campaign is iBlue http://www.goiblue.com)
- Interactive Bluetooth Advertising solutions (2 way Bluetooth advertising devices) are not very exciting as people think, because this feature is not user friendly, as users should install a client application (JAVA application) to be able to interact/communicatw with the Bluetooth Broadcasting station, and this is very annoying for the users (companies that provide such feature bluevibe.net)
- Some companies offers the feature of specifying certain content to certain brands of mobile handsets, this feature was of great value in the past years, today this feature lost it interactivity, as most of the new/current mobile handsets is sharing the same features of supporting MP3, MP4, 3GP, GIF, PDF and JAVA, in this way you do not have to select/specify certain file formats to certain mobile handsets, so this feature is almost no more important nowadays (companies that provide such feature are waymedia.it and futurlink.com while http://www.goiblue.com will provide this service soon as they said!)
- Do not buy Bluetooth devices that runs under windows, as these devices cannot support more that ONE bluetooth antenna. which makes less than 7 simultaneous connections at the same time. If you want to buy a device choose the one that operates under Linux
- All companies clame that they can reach the 7 simultaneous connection per Bluetooth antenna while this is not totlly correct, as when you are sending big files in your Bluetooth campaign the 7 connections will be dedicated to one user. And this is done to maximize the bit rate of sending this single big file
- Almost all Bluetooth Advertising solution vendors provides their solutions as a black box (Hardware come with its Bluetooth Advertising Software) so you cannot increase the number of Bluetooth antennas by your self. iBlue provides/offers the firmware of their Bluetooth devices alnoe http://www.goiblue.com/bluetooth_marketing_longarm_software i.e. you can buy whatever mini PC/ whatever labtop AND install this peice of software + add whatever number of Bluetooth USBz to convert it a dedicated stand alone or portable Bluetooth Advertising Device.
- If you got futurlink.com solutions you should pay annual fees, but their solutions are very attractive looking.
- Waymedia.it and http://www.goiblue.com do not charge annual fees for their stand alone solutions. They just charge you annually if you added the feature of managing many sporadic devices from single web interface. iBlue charges about 10-20$/device/y Wymedia charges about 20-30$/device/y -I am not very sure!- But as I said again stand alone devices do not costs you any more fees!
- Some Vendors provides LIVE CD Bluetooth Advertising solutions as blueblitz.com and http://www.goiblue.com/ss_best_price_bluetooth_advertising these Live CDz contain Bluetooth Advertising firmware + your campaign. Live CDz can run with out installation, just insert the CD when your device is booting up, Live CDz are very cheep and can support up 16 Bluetooth Advertising antenna which can make up to 105 simultaneous connections. see the demo here http://www.goiblue.com/uploads/devices_attachments/iBlue_Live_Demo.iso this is an iso image so please burn it to a CD as an image do not unzip it.
