Cialdini was a pioneer. Obviously this video is old, but what’s fascinating is recent neurological findings back up many of Cialdini’s marketing principles. Good stuff.
over the year of studying nothing else but myself as an individual thinker, I’m fully surprised that my task in this life is nothing else but to understand the way I think, react toward actions and events and the way I feel over things are attracted to me!!!!! This is funny, it seems that I’m an alien living an a moving device is no mine and sometimes it gets out of control. Do I need professional help?

Cialdini wrote an excellent book called Influence where he goes into detail about all of these techniques. Anyone in management, teaching, or any type of leadership position should be aware of these techniques. It also helps you defend yourself against being manipulated by them.
i would also recommend cleaning your temporary internet files/internet cache/browsing history once a day or you can use private browsing so all of that stuff is deleted each time you close your browser. try using a program called “spybot search and destroy” to clean out spyware every 1-3 days. that might help out some.
@MrFoChizzel – there is a number of ways to remove cookies and to prevent ads from displaying on your browser. if you use firefox, go to their website and look for the add on called “ad-blocker” they are all free.

@MrFoChizzel – those “bugs” you mention might also be referred to as cookies. companies use these to determine your browsing habits and then they determine which products to advertise to you.
If you don’t want to take these kinds of psychological persuasion techniques to the darker side, definitely do not click on my username.

@shabbooo7 – Edward Bernays is the father of the PR. He used the techniques of his uncle (Sigmund Freud) to manipulate public opinion using the subconscious.

I HATE advertisers, they have these bug things that they attach to your computer to track what you look at on the internet and then they sell that info to other companies and they make an ad trying to get you to buy something like the other day: i was looking for an online tutor for math, so i go to Sylvan but it’s too expensive, then the next day on every sing page i go on theres an ad that says “Save $100 on a Sylvan Math program”, I’m like dude WTF!! Fucking advertisers piss me off!

It is actually very good, I own one :p it’s really good compared to the old Samsung (or Panasonic) or something I owned in my old house.
The Dyson vacuum was actually a terrible product. You failed at failing to be indoctrinated.
There is some “brainwashing” to an extent, good example is a Hoover Vac for kids and Barbie Credit Cards.
But the thing with that is that we can turn off the TV or not buy that particular item. “The Persuaders” video makes the case that it is actually getting harder for advertisers to reach customers, due to their over “brainwashing”.
I will have to check him out, another video to watch on advertising is the Frontline: “The Persuaders”.

Advertising tends to have a negative impact on me. I tend to specifically avoid products that are over-advertised… except products that are really good, and stand out from all the rest – like the Dyson. I don’t know why I do this… guess it’s teenage rebellion or something along those lines XD

True but there’s a deeper subconscious layer behind advertising. If you ever read up on Edward Bernays, you’ll get a bigger and better picture of advertising.
