The mobile advertising industry is expected to flourish over the next few years as advertisers are starting to shift more ad dollars to mobile media. Here is a list of some of the different types of careers that exist in the mobile marketing industry.
Mobile Application Developer. A Mobile App developer is responsible for designing and building scalable and usable mobile client applications. They must know how to work with multiple mobile client application frameworks such as Cocoa Touch, Android, and J2ME. A strong understanding of user experience and server side technologies such as Java, C++, PHP, MySQL, Apache and more is also helpful. A Bachelor’s degree in computer science is a plus.
Mobile Product Marketing Manager. A Mobile Marketing Manager wears multiple hats as they work with the business development team, sales team, and communications team. The Manager is generally responsible for tracking and sharing market-level research, analyzing data from advertiser campaigns and publisher traffic to generate key insights, identify trends and opportunities, and formulate recommendations for sales and business development.
Mobile Sales Rep / Account Executive. Mobile Sales Representatives and Account Executives are the key drivers in generating revenue in new business opportunities and promoting the company’s products and services. They are also responsible for representing the company at industry events, should be a good negotiator, and meet sales quotas. Results driven, high energy and online advertising experience is preferred.
Mobile Media Planner. A Media Planner is responsible for developing media plans that meet the needs of clients while also maximize revenue opportunities within the company. Planners generally evaluate and suggest effective placements and rates, develop presentations based on RFPs, provide recommendations for proposals, and provide research support during development of plans.
